How to choose the right lamp shade for my light?

When it comes to choosing the right lamp shade for your light, it can be difficult to know where to begin. A commonly used interior design rule is to the mirror the size and style of the base. For example, if the base of your lamp is large in stature, it makes sense to pair this with a large lamp shade to create a balance to the overall look, such as our 40cm Black Silk Light Shade.

Equally, choosing a style and colour of light shade that matches the base is often favoured, choosing complimenting colours, fabrics and aesthetics helps create a finished look that fits in the space perfectly. 

How to replace a lamp shade?

Replacing a lamp shade is one of the quickest and easiest ways to transform a space. Many of our light shades have a screw-type mechanism that allows you to use the existing fixture or base and simply screw the new light shade into place.

Will all light shades fit on all lamps?

Most light shades will fit on all lamps but it is important to check the compatibility with the bulb you’re using to ensure your light shade is suitable for the bulb you have and vice versa, to ensure you purchase the right bulb.

Some lamp shades will naturally look too big or too small from a style perspective, so be sure to follow the rules above for choosing the right lamp shade for your light.
